Location: UC Berkeley, Wheeler Hall, Room 213 http://bit.ly/1BVROUt
Lunch Provided and Child Care Available (email email@example.com to reserve)
This important meeting brings together members from all over the state to decide the priorities for the union over the next year. We will be reviewing our progress over the last year and discussing plans and goals for the next year. Topics will include:
- Bargaining improvements to our contract in 2015
- Ongoing work on increasing science funding and other issues that impact postdocs
- How postdocs can build leadership skills
- Recent grievance wins and current work
- The union’s financial health and budget planning for the next year
Your input at the AMM is essential to our democratic union! The membership is the highest decision making body in our union and attending the AMM is a great way to share your ideas and network with fellow postdocs from across the state. There will also be an opportunity to raise any issues you’d like to discuss. Every voice matters!
As a part of our Annual Membership Meeting, there will also be a panel discussion on open access journals and the future of academic publishing and communications, featuring UC postdocs and faculty and representatives from eLife, PLoS, Bio-protocol.org, ScienceOpen.com and more! See below for details:
We will be organizing ridesharing, the meeting will be child-friendly, and lunch will be provided. To help us get an accurate head count for food please RSVP here. You can also use the RSVP form to submit a question for the panelists.
For non-Joint Council members, there are funds available on a first come, first served basis to provide reimbursement for travel expenses to the meeting. Please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, September 1 if you would like to request reimbursement for travel to the meeting with the approximate cost.
If you have any questions about the meeting, travel to the meeting, or need childcare at the meeting, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting us at email@example.com or 510-845-5726. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
