Last week UC postdocs received a powerful assist in our contract negotiations from a majority of California’s Congressional delegation! We extend a huge thank you to Congressman Ted Lieu, who drafted a letter to President Napolitano urging the UC administration to come to agreement on a contract that provides a fair salary, paid parental leave and childcare subsidies, and job security for all postdocs. Twenty-seven other Congress members from California co-signed the letter (click here to read the letter), which was delivered to President Napolitano last Friday.

Today we begin our final week of bargaining before contract expiration. Following up on our campus actions across the state, this letter is another powerful signal to UC administration that postdocs must have a contract that truly reflects the value of our contributions to UC research.

Now let’s keep up the pressure and win a fair contract!
