We would like to alert you to two upcoming “Know Your Rights” events about visas & immigration. Immigration attorneys will share the latest regarding the Trump administration Executive Orders and provide info on visas and immigration in general. There will also be opportunity to ask your own questions.

Wednesday Feb 15, from 4-6:30pm in Anthony Hall at UC Berkeley

The Postdoc Union is co-hosting a Know Your Rights training with attorneys from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the East Bay Community Law Center, and immigration law firm Van Der Hout, Brigagliano & Nightingale, LLP.

Agenda:

  • 4-5:30 pm: Presentation and Q&A. Attorneys from the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the East Bay Community Law Center will present an overview of the current legal situation and our rights, followed by a Q&A.
  • 5:30-6:30 pm: Consultations and Community Building. Individuals will be able to consult personally with attorneys, as well as connect with others interested in discussing collective actions we can take to protect ourselves and each other.

Wednesday Feb 22, from 12-1.30pm at Campbell Hall room 131 at UC Berkeley

Along with the UC Berkeley AstroJustice Group, the Postdoc Union presents a workshop with attorneys from immigration law firm Van Der Hout, Brigagliano & Nightingale, LLP. These attorneys have worked with the Postdoc Union for many years and are very familiar with the specific types of visa and immigration scenarios postdocs face. Attorneys will share crucial information and provide legal consultation for every international postdoc and researcher.
