Executive Board Nominations
All UAW 5810 members in continuous good standing for ninety (90) days prior to accepting nominations are automatically nominated for the following statewide three (3) year Executive Board offices:
1 President nominated and elected by the statewide membership
1 Vice President nominated and elected by the statewide membership
1 Financial Secretary nominated and elected by the statewide membership
1 Recording Secretary nominated and elected by the statewide membership
3 Trustees nominated and elected by the statewide membership
1 Sergeant-at-Arms nominated and elected by the statewide membership
1 Guide nominated and elected by the statewide membership
JOINT COUNCIL NOMINATIONS

NOMINATION PROCEDURE FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD AND JOINT COUNCIL
Members may accept nomination for no more than one executive board position and no more than one Joint Council position. Each member who wishes to accept nomination must indicate this intention in writing by; mailing or delivering to Elections, UAW Local 5810, 2070 Allston Way, Suite 102, Berkeley, CA, 94704, or by faxing to (510) 845-5863, or by e-mailing to elections@uaw5810.org. In the written acceptance, specify the position(s) you are accepting nomination for. Written acceptance must be received no later than May 7, 2012 at 5:00 pm. The written statement of acceptance should state how the nominee wishes her/his name to appear on the ballot. Also see the section on candidate statements below.
CANDIDATE STATEMENTS: Members accepting nomination may also submit a candidate statement (up to 500 words) by the nomination deadline of May 7, 2012 at 5:00pm to Elections at above address. The statement will be posted on the Local Union website and Local Union offices no later than May 14th, 2012.
In addition, a member may nominate another member for a position specified above. If a member chooses to nominate another member, s/he must notify UAW Local 5810 of the nomination in writing within the first five (5) days of the nominating period by mailing, delivering, faxing or e-mailing the nomination to Elections at the above address. The nominator is required to notify the member s/he nominated for the specific office, so that the nominee will be aware of the nomination and of her/his obligation to follow the nomination procedure as described above. If a member is nominated and the nominator fails to notify the nominee, such failure will not invalidate or excuse the member’s responsibility to accept such nomination within the established acceptance deadline, May 7, 2012 at 5 pm.

The election for Executive Board and Joint Council/Head Stewards will take place on Monday, May 21, 2012. Please check below for your campus voting location and times.

All members in good standing at the time of the election are eligible to vote at their campus. Membership may be obtained at the polling sites. The election will be by secret ballot. Write-in candidates are not permitted. Voting must be in person. There will be no absentee ballots. If any position is uncontested, the candidate shall be considered elected and no election for that position will be held. All candidates for contested Executive Board and Joint Council positions must be elected by majority of valid ballots cast for that position. A run-off election, if necessary, will be held on June 5, 2012 at the same times and locations shown above.
