At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss how we can help build the upcoming March for Science in LA on April 22. The March for Science is a national movement that is organizing actions and marches across the country on April 22 in support of science and scientists. Postdocs across the state have been getting involved, and we will discuss what we can do for our local march.
We will also talk about your rights to take political action, including your rights to attend marches and protests (including if you’re on a visa).
Lunch will be provided!
Join us for our March Postdoc Union Happy Hour at Barney’s Beanery! Appetizers will be provided; you just cover your beers. Partners and colleagues are welcome.
See you there!

The April 22nd March for Science marks a historic day of action for researchers at UC, and across the country. At our meeting this month, we will be talking about how we can maintain the momentum from the March, build solidarity within the scientific community, and engage the public to help push back against anti-science policies. Bring your creative ideas!
Lunch will be provided!
Access and affordability of housing is a concern for many, if not all of us. At this month’s membership meeting, we’ll explore the specific housing challenges UC Postdocs face, discuss what options exist at our campus, and talk about how the Postdoc Union can work to increase housing access.
Lunch will be provided
As the March for Science showed, scientists are ready to fight back against threats to science funding, climate change, immigration and many other critical issues. We would like to invite you for a brainstorming session to make plans on how to build on the momentum in the coming weeks and months.
We received lots of great feedback from our recent survey about Postdoc priorities – thanks for all suggestions! This meeting will focus on how we can turn those priorities into an action plan to advocate for policies and elected leadership that will represent the best interests of Postdocs and the broader community.
Whether you’re new to UCLA, or have been around for a few years, whether you’re super involved or familiar with US politics or community organizing, or not at all, please join!
At this month’s Campus Membership Meeting we will discuss career development resources: how to take advantage of them, rights under our contract and how these rights can be improved upon. Come join us!
Lunch will be provided.
At this month’s Campus Membership Meeting, we will be discussing Personal Time Off and the various kinds of leaves (Maternity, Parental, Personal, Medical, etc.) available to Postdocs, how to make use of those leaves when needed, as well as how paid sick days and holidays work under the contract.
