We will also report back on the responses we got from the UCSF Campus Housing Survey.

UCSF Mission Bay Membership Meeting — Postdoc Community Organizing @ Mission Hall, MH-2110
Jul 26 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The benefits and protections important to Postdocs are under attack because of a series of court decisions and policy changes, among which is the billionaire-funded Janus v AFSCME case against public-sector unions. Please join your fellow Postdocs at this month’s membership meeting to discuss how we can fight to protect our right to stand together and advocate for ourselves and our profession.

Lunch will be provided!

This month during our Membership Meeting, we’ll discuss the UC Postdoc Benefits Plan:

  • What is the difference between the HMO and the PPO medical plan?
  • What are my out-of-pocket medical expenses?
  • How to find a General Physician/Pediatrician/Dentist/Endodontist?
  • And more.

Especially helpful if you’re a relatively new Postdoc, or you want to educate yourself on all options before the Open Enrollment period coming up in October.

Lunch will be provided!

UCSF Mission Bay – Voter Registration Table @ Mission Bay Farmer's Market
Oct 3 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Midterm elections are fast approaching, and we can help elect pro-science, pro-immigrant, pro-worker candidates! Election Day is November 6th, and we will be voting for federal, state, and local candidates, along with important ballot measures.

If you’re eligible to vote in the US, and if you haven’t yet registered to vote, you can do so here (or in-person at the Farmer’s Market)! Any California registered voter may request to vote using a vote-by-mail ballot. You do not have to be “absent” or “out of town on election day” to vote by mail in California. You may apply for a vote-by-mail ballot just because you want to.

You don’t need to be eligible to vote in the US in order to volunteer! In fact, many international Postdocs and students help out with campaigns.

In Solidarity,

Juliane Winkler, Unit Chair
Akua Gyamerah, Head Steward
Leila Mohammadi, Head Steward
