Organizing The Future of Research with Academic Researchers United @ Stanley Hall, Room 177
May 31 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Future of Research promotes grassroots advocacy by researchers and collects data about academia and scientific training. In Gary’s talk, titled “What’s Next, for the Next Generation of Researchers?”, he will present results from the Next Generation Researchers Initiative, a Congressionally-mandated committee convened by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine to examine how to create viable and sustainable career paths for early-career scientists. Postdocs and Academic Researchers from UC Berkeley and LBL will also speak about how they are taking collective action to make improvements.

Don’t miss this great opportunity for a conversation with Postdocs and Academic Researchers on many of the issues we’re facing regarding funding, research, and our careers. The event is open to all, so please help spread the word. There will be more information in weeks to come (including details on live streaming), but for now, save the date!

Irvine – Writing Successful Grants @ Humanities Instructional Building (HIB) 135
Nov 13 @ 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

Writing and successfully obtaining grants is one of the most important skills in academia and beyond. It is also a tremendous endeavor for which any help is more than welcome. We are organizing a seminar “Writing Successful Grants” on November 13, as a follow-up to our successful panel featuring Postdocs and Academic Researchers back in the summer.

The seminar will be spearheaded by Dr. Melinda Gormley, a Research Development Officer at UCI, who has a decade of experience in research development working for UCI, the US government, and University of Notre Dame. Most importantly, many postdocs have great personal experiences working with Dr. Gormley as her advice, proposal review, and assistance has improved many fellowship and grant proposals.

Please RSVP here. This is an event and an important resource that you definitely don’t want to miss!
