Join us for our October Happy Hour! Stop by to have a drink and some finger food, socialize, and meet new Postdocs from UC Berkeley and LBL.
UAW members from Nevada have asked for our help to campaign for Jacky Rosen for US Senate. She is currently a member of the House of Representatives on the Science, Space and Technology committee, and she is running to replace current Senator Dean Heller, a Republican who has largely voted with Trump. This race is critical to flipping the Senate!
Early voting in Nevada starts the weekend of October 20-21, so we’ll be doing on-the-ground canvassing to help get out the vote. We’ll be working in pairs and will be provided with training when we get to Nevada, so prior canvassing experience is not needed.
We will be coordinating bus transportation from Northern CA to Reno and from Southern CA to Las Vegas with fellow UAW members, and hotel rooms in Reno and Las Vegas will be provided. We will spend Saturday and Sunday campaigning, and then hop on the buses back to California on Sunday afternoon.
This is going to be an important and fun weekend! All Postdocs who want to join are welcome, along with family members, friends, etc. – the more the merrier! Please email email@example.com if you have any questions, and RSVP here.
Walk precincts in support of Katie Porter, who is running against Republican Mimi Walters. Are you in? Do you want to carpool? Please RSVP at the link.
If you are eligible to vote, now is the time to get ready for the upcoming Midterm elections, held on Tuesday, November 6.
For California residents, the deadline to register to vote is October 22, 2018.
Any California registered voter may request to vote using a vote-by-mail ballot. You do not have to be “absent” or “out of town on election day” to vote by mail in California. You may apply for a vote-by-mail ballot just because you want to.
Please join us for a membership meeting on the upcoming midterm elections! Postdocs have a lot to gain during the upcoming November 6 election. We’ll briefly discuss what’s at stake, how the federal and state law-making process works, and how science and research are impacted. We’ll also present our Science Slate, including our endorsed California propositions.
Lunch will be provided!
