This month during our Membership Meeting, we’ll discuss the UC Postdoc Benefits Plan:
- How does health insurance work in the US?
- What is the difference between the HMO and the PPO medical plan?
- What are my out-of-pocket medical expenses?
- How to find a General Physician/Pediatrician/Dentist/Endodontist?
- And more.
Especially helpful if you’re a relatively new Postdoc, or you want to educate yourself on all options before the Open Enrollment period starting on October 31.
Lunch will be provided!
Writing and successfully obtaining grants is one of the most important skills in academia and beyond. It is also a tremendous endeavor for which any help is more than welcome. We are organizing a seminar “Writing Successful Grants” on November 13, as a follow-up to our successful panel featuring Postdocs and Academic Researchers back in the summer.
The seminar will be spearheaded by Dr. Melinda Gormley, a Research Development Officer at UCI, who has a decade of experience in research development working for UCI, the US government, and University of Notre Dame. Most importantly, many postdocs have great personal experiences working with Dr. Gormley as her advice, proposal review, and assistance has improved many fellowship and grant proposals.
Please RSVP here. This is an event and an important resource that you definitely don’t want to miss!
