Access and affordability of housing is a concern for many, if not all of us. At this month’s membership meeting, we’ll explore the specific housing challenges UC Postdocs face, discuss what options exist at our campus, and talk about how the Postdoc Union can work to increase housing access.
Lunch will be provided!

We are launching a program across the state to build our union’s political power, and each campus will guide efforts happening locally. The goal for our initial brainstorming meeting is to bring together ideas about how to take action here in the East Bay and leverage our collective voices to defend science and research, expand the rights of international researchers, and push for improvements on other issues of concern to researchers.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 21st at 11:30am in Campbell Hall, Room 121. RSVP here. This meeting is open to all researchers, so please invite your lab mates, colleagues, and friends to join us!

At this month’s Campus Membership Meeting, we will be discussing Personal Time Off and the various kinds of leaves (Maternity, Parental, Personal, Medical, etc.) available to Postdocs, how to make use of those leaves when needed, as well as how paid sick days and holidays work under the contract.
At this month’s campus membership meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to ask all of your questions about retirement plan options for Postdocs, including the Defined Contribution Plan (DCP). We’ll be joined by Nancy Pargot, a retirement planner from Fidelity Investments, who can provide expert advice. We will also update you on the status of our statewide grievance over UC’s proposal to increase Postdoc retirement plan fees. Hope to see you there!
At this month’s Campus Membership Meeting we will discuss career development resources: how to take advantage of them, rights under our contract and how these rights can be improved upon. Come join us!
Come join your colleagues for this month’s Postdoc Union social at the next Farmer’s market picnic. We will enjoy each other’s company, the music, and all the other things the picnic has to offer. Families and friends are of course welcome, and it is also a great opportunity to meet new people!
We will meet in the middle of the park towards B street, close to the horses.
