At this month’s Campus Membership Meeting we will discuss career development resources: how to take advantage of them, rights under our contract and how these rights can be improved upon.
At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss the UC Postdoc Health Benefits, and generally how health insurance works in the US. Especially helpful if you’re a relatively new UC Davis Postdoc, or you want to educate yourself on all options before the Open Enrollment period coming up in October/November.
The first month of the year is soon coming to an end. We hope that you had a great start of the new year and that you have a bright outlook on the rest of it. Please join us for our monthly Happy Hour and talk about what you look forward to for this year (or about anything else). We are also inviting academic researchers this time, who are in the process of forming a union, so please feel free to bring along any junior specialist, project scientist or similar.
At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss the basics of filing Federal and State taxes, including issues affecting fellows and international scholars. Your peers are also an excellent resource for tax questions and this will be a good opportunity to ask questions and share information.
Lunch will be provided!

- Reviewing your parental leave options
- Overview of your health benefits
- Steps towards transitioning out of your Postdoc
If there are other issues you’d like to discuss, email us at email@example.com
For this month’s membership meeting, we have invited Rand Erickson, a retirement planner from Fidelity Investments, to present on the retirement plan options for Postdocs, including the Defined Contribution Plan (DCP), 403b and 457b plans.
You will have the opportunity to ask all of your questions about the plans, the various ways you can invest for the future, and what options you have when your UC employment ends.
Hope to see you there!
