UCSF Mission Bay – Voter Registration Table @ Mission Bay Farmer's Market
Oct 10 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Midterm elections are fast approaching, and we can help elect pro-science, pro-immigrant, pro-worker candidates! Election Day is November 6th, and we will be voting for federal, state, and local candidates, along with important ballot measures.

If you’re eligible to vote in the US, and if you haven’t yet registered to vote, you can do so here (or in-person at the Farmer’s Market)! Any California registered voter may request to vote using a vote-by-mail ballot. You do not have to be “absent” or “out of town on election day” to vote by mail in California. You may apply for a vote-by-mail ballot just because you want to.

You don’t need to be eligible to vote in the US in order to volunteer! In fact, many international Postdocs and students help out with campaigns.

In Solidarity,

Juliane Winkler, Unit Chair
Akua Gyamerah, Head Steward
Leila Mohammadi, Head Steward
Matt Grimmer, Trustee

UCSF Parnassus Membership Meeting – Why the midterm election is critical to all Postdocs @ Kalmanovitz Library, CL-215
Oct 30 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Please join us for a membership meeting on the upcoming midterm elections! Postdocs have a lot to gain during the upcoming November 6 election. We’ll briefly discuss what’s at stake, how the federal and state law-making process works, and how science and research are impacted. We’ll also present our Science Slate, including our endorsed California propositions.

At this meeting, we will also be voting for a representative to the elections committee. The UAW local 5810 elections committee consists of one elected representative from every campus. We will accept nominations at the meeting and hold an election if necessary.

We will also be electing campus stewards. These stewards will help plan campus events and actions, represent Postdocs in grievances, and make sure Postdocs at UCSF have a strong voice. All members in good standing are eligible to accept nomination for steward positions.

Lunch will be provided!
