Come join us on Thursday March 23 for a Postdoc meeting with pizza lunch. Given that it’s “tax season”, we’ll discuss the basics of filing Federal and State taxes, including issues affecting fellows and international scholars. Your peers are also an excellent resource for tax questions and this will be a good opportunity to ask questions and share information.
We will also be discussing our efforts on the topic of Visa and Immigration, and what kinds of support we can ask UC to provide for Postdocs affected by the visa ban. Come and share your ideas!
Lunch will be provided!
At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss how we can help build the upcoming March for Science in San Francisco on April 22. The March for Science is a national movement that is organizing actions and marches across the country on April 22 in support of science and scientists. Postdocs across the state have been getting involved, and we will discuss what we can do for our local march.
We will also talk about your rights to take political action, including your rights to attend marches and protests (including if you’re on a visa).
Lunch will be provided!
The 2nd Annual UCSC Postdoctoral research symposium will take place on Friday April 21st, 2017 at Stevenson event center, Stevenson College, UCSC from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Our keynote speakers this year will be Prof. Joanne Engel, MD, PhD from UCSF and Prof. Katherine S. The April 22nd March for Science marks a historic day of action for researchers at UC, and across the country. At our meeting this month, we will be talking about how we can maintain the momentum from the March, build solidarity within the scientific community, and engage the public to help push back against anti-science policies. Bring your creative ideas!
We will be serving light refreshments.
