At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss how we can help build the upcoming March for Science in San Francisco on April 22. The March for Science is a national movement that is organizing actions and marches across the country on April 22 in support of science and scientists. Postdocs across the state have been getting involved, and we will discuss what we can do for our local march.
We will also talk about your rights to take political action, including your rights to attend marches and protests (including if you’re on a visa).
Lunch will be provided!
The April 22nd March for Science marks a historic day of action for researchers at UC, and across the country. At our meeting this month, we will be talking about how we can maintain the momentum from the March, build solidarity within the scientific community, and engage the public to help push back against anti-science policies. Bring your creative ideas!
Lunch will be provided!
We are launching a program across the state to build our union’s political power, and each campus will guide efforts happening locally. The goal for our initial brainstorming meeting is to bring together ideas about how to take action here in the East Bay and leverage our collective voices to defend science and research, expand the rights of international researchers, and push for improvements on other issues of concern to researchers.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 21st at 11:30am in Campbell Hall, Room 121. RSVP here. This meeting is open to all researchers, so please invite your lab mates, colleagues, and friends to join us!

At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss the UC Postdoc Health Benefits, and generally how health insurance works in the US. Especially helpful if you’re a relatively new LBL Postdoc, or you want to educate yourself on all options before the Open Enrollment period coming up in October/November.
