At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss the UC Postdoc Health Benefits, and generally how health insurance works in the US. Especially helpful if you’re a relatively new UC San Diego Postdoc, or you want to educate yourself on all options before the Open Enrollment period coming up in October/November.
We will have appetizers, beverages, music and activities. Family, Friends and coworkers are welcome, we will have a suggested donation of $10/person (no one will be turned away) to help raise funds to support pro-science/pro-worker policies and politicians running for office. This is a great opportunity to meet other Postdocs in San Diego and have some fun afterwork!
We are planning a Wellness Hour to provide a space for Postdocs to come grab a healthy snack and participate in Yoga stretches lead by a professional Yoga instructor. So bring your mats and grab a healthy snack…or just come grab a snack and meet other Postdocs
RSVP here to let us know you are coming!
Friends and family are welcome. See you there!

We invite you to join us for the last membership meeting of 2017.
We’ll talk about everything related to Postdoc Appointments:
* What should be in my appointment letter?
* My fellowship is for 3 years – how long should my appointment be?
* When should I receive my reappointment letter?
* Can I resign mid-appointment? How?
* What is the difference between “Layoff” and “Dismissal”?
If you have any questions about this topic, or any other topic, or just want to get more information about your rights, please join!
Lunch will be provided
Join us for a Postdoc union Coffee Hour! Come have coffee and donuts, and socialize with your fellow Postdocs.
Hope to see you there!

We would like to invite you to our first membership meeting of 2018. During this meeting, we’ll kick off the new year with a discussion about our union values and how those values help us protect our rights and win together. During 2017, we accomplished huge contract enforcement victories, we planned and participated in global actions like the March for Science, and we used our Researcher Values petition to have important conversations with elected officials across the state. At this meeting we’ll make plans for the rest of the year to ensure that we continue to build momentum. It looks like 2018 will be full of challenges, and we would love to hear your comments and ideas about the priorities for our union.
The first month of the year is soon coming to an end. We hope that you had a great start of the new year and that you have a bright outlook on the rest of it. Please join us for our monthly Happy Hour and talk about what you look forward to for this year (or about anything else). We are also inviting academic researchers this time, who are in the process of forming a union, so please feel free to bring along any junior specialist, project scientist or similar.
