Join us for fall barbecue on Saturday, October 13th at Gabrielino Park. This is a great opportunity to share food, fun and conversation with fellow Postdocs, family and friends. Here are the details:
We will be joined by Academic Researchers (Project Scientists, Specialists and Researchers, many of whom used to be Postdocs) who are forming their own union, and it will be a great opportunity to create a stronger researcher community and network with each other.
Food will be provided. Drinks will be donation based and will help us to raise raise funds for our union’s Voluntary Community Action Program (V-CAP) to support pro-science, pro-labor candidates who will push back against the current administration’s attacks on science and international workers.
Please RSVP here to let us know if you are coming and if you are bringing any guests, so we know how much food we need, and feel free to bring a side dish to share!
Walk precincts in support of Katie Porter, who is running against Republican Mimi Walters. Are you in? Do you want to carpool? Please RSVP at the link.

Please join us for our next Academic Researcher general meeting. We’ll discuss the results from our comprehensive bargaining survey and what improvements we want to see at UC. This conversation, and others like it across the state, will inform the drafting of our initial bargaining demands for our first union contract with UC.
Authorship and other forms of academic credit are of course important for our career advancement. We want to hear from you about how authorship disputes have impacted your experience as a Postdoc and how we can most effectively make progress on this critical issue in upcoming contract negotiations. Can you take a couple minutes to fill out our authorship survey?
Then join us for our monthly campus membership meeting where we’ll discuss disputes around academic credit, and strategies to make improvements in this area.
Lunch will be provided!
Meet other UCI Postdocs and Researchers, socialize, and expand your network! We’ll be celebrating an Academic Researchers United (Project Scientists, Researchers, and Specialists) milestone: obtaining majority support for our unionization effort.
Hot coffee, cold beverages, cookies and snacks provided. Your labmates and colleagues are welcome too!
Please join us for our first Academic Researcher general meeting of the new year! We’ll discuss existing recommendations to improve research in the U.S., including the 2018 NAS report: “The Next Generation of Biomedical and Behavioral Sciences Researchers: Breaking Through”. By understanding existing recommendations and reports, we can better craft bargaining proposals to support our careers and UC’s research mission.
All ARs are encourage to attend and lunch will be provided!
Do you have an Individual Development Plan (IDP)? Are you familiar with what an IDP is and the benefits of having one? At this month’s Campus Membership Meeting, we will discuss Individual Development Plans, how to take advantage of them to help achieve your career and professional development goals, and current career development rights under our contract and how these rights can be improved upon. Come join us!
Lunch will be provided!
