Are you in the process of applying for a fellowship or just thinking about applying for one? Confused or uncertain about the ins and outs of doing so? At this month’s membership meeting we’ll discuss best practices for applications. And your colleagues are often the best resource for demystifying the process so we’ll also hear from Postdocs about their experiences with fellowship applications.

Come celebrate the season, socialize and discuss ways we can further strengthen our researcher community. Food and some drinks will be provided but feel free to BYOB (and snacks). There’ll be corn hole, bocce and a sign-making station for the March for Science the following week! Partners, family, friends are welcome to join.

If you’re interested in learning more about how we can build Postdoc power to better collectively advocate for and make progress on the issues we care about, we invite you to join our “Building Postdoc Power” skill building happy hour.
In 90 minutes, we will:
- Practice communication skills and get comfortable talking with colleagues about our Union and our upcoming contract negotiations
- Strategize about how Postdocs can participate throughout the bargaining process to win big improvements in 2020
- Learn leadership skills to help grow our community of engaged Postdocs and build Postdoc power
- Enjoy pizza and beverages and meet fellow Postdocs!

Bargaining officially begins on May 14 at UCLA for the first-ever contract for Academic Researchers! At this month’s meeting we’ll discuss AR experiences with promotion, what works and doesn’t work about current procedures, and brainstorm ways that we can negotiate a more fair and transparent process. Anyone who is interested in this topic should please come and share your ideas!!
