What rights does our contract provide with regard to appointment length and appointment letters? What does a layoff mean? What if you find another job before your appointment end date? Join us at our next meeting to learn more about everything appointment-related, and hear from other Postdocs about their experiences. This is also a good opportunity to ask any other questions that you may have.

Are you interested in gaining teaching experience as a Postdoc? In this month’s membership meeting, we will discuss opportunities for Postdocs to hone their teaching skills. We’ll talk about different kinds of teaching, whether formal or informal, and how to build those experiences into your CV. We’ll also discuss opportunities for teaching in the area, both within UC and outside.

This month’s membership meeting will focus on the range of mental/behavioral health resources that are available to Postdocs. This includes what is available on campus, as well as off campus. We’ll also cover how to find providers under our HMO and PPO health care plans. And as always, we are each other’s greatest resource so any information or feedback that you can contribute to this conversation will be most appreciated!

No one starts a Postdoc thinking they will have a bad experience. Yet far too often, Postdocs encounter problematic dynamics in the lab.
At this month’s Campus Membership Meeting we’ll discuss how to identify potentil workplace and address them before they spin out of control. We will cover protections for Postdocs outlined in our union contract and how to use our contract and the grievance process for resolving work-related concerns, problems and/or issues. Join us to share your experience with others & to learn how to inform other Postdocs of their rights.
