Hooray! Due our new union contract, many of you will be receiving a salary increase today, December 1! For most Postdocs, the increase will be reflected in your January 1 pay.
As of today, all Postdoc salaries will comply with a new experience-based minimum salary scale. Under this scale, salaries will be linked to the Proposed 2017 NIH NRSA scale but UC Postdocs will be paid at least 2 steps higher than their NIH experience level (“NIH Plus 2 Steps”).

You make have heard that a recent Federal Court ruling has put the Department of Labor’s new Overtime Rule on hold, but due to our contract this will not affect the UC Postdoc minimum pay scale. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you do not receive your increase as mandated by the contract.
These increases were won because Postdocs joined the union and got involved, and membership is also essential to protecting and improving those rights moving forward.
