Your union is holding its 2024 Triennial election to fill all seats on the UAW 4811 Joint Council, including all campus-level positions and all seats on the statewide Executive Board. Please read on for information about the election and instructions on how to accept the nomination if you are interested in running for one of these positions. The term for Joint Council offices is approximately three years, until the Local’s next Triennial election, which is scheduled for May 2027.

TIMELINE: Deadlines are strict.

  • Deadline to accept nomination: Monday, April 15 (11:59pm PT)
  • Candidate statements (optional) due: Monday, April 15 (11:59pm PT)
  • Voting (if there are contested positions): From May 2 (12am PT) to May 3 (5pm PT).  The election will take place online.
  • Run-off election (if necessary): From May 13 (12am PT) to May 14 (5pm PT).  The run-off (if necessary) will take place online.
  • The Elections Committee will be available by email at elections@uaw4811.org up to and during the election to process ballot requests and assist with any technical issues that arise during the online voting process. 

QUALIFICATIONS
See the 2024 Triennial Election Rules for more detailed information on voter and candidate eligibility.

  • For Executive Board positions: All UAW Local 4811 members in continuous good standing for 1 year prior to accepting nominations are automatically nominated for these positions. The ASE Statewide Chair and PD/AR Statewide Chair are reserved for members of those bargaining units.
  • For Head Steward, Unit Chair, and Campus Recording Secretary: All UAW Local 4811 members in continuous good standing for forty five (45) days prior to accepting nominations are automatically nominated for their positions in their bargaining unit at their campus.
  • Concurrently held positions: Members may not hold more than one position on the Executive Board or Joint Council at a time.

ACCEPTING NOMINATION

Each member who wishes to accept a nomination must indicate this intention by completing this Nomination Acceptance Form. Please only accept the nomination if you intend to run for the position, as nomination acceptances cannot be withdrawn once the nominating period has closed. 

WHEN ACCEPTING NOMINATION, PLEASE INCLUDE

  1. Position to which you are accepting the nomination
  2. Your name as you’d like it to appear on the ballot
  3. Contact information: campus, department, email address
  4. Candidate statement (up to 500 words, optional) – In the case of a contested election, the statement will be posted on the Local’s website no later than Thursday, April 25, 2024, and will be available on the online ballot during the election.
